Taiwan e' un'isola multiculturale, alla prevalente cultura sinica si mischiano infatti in un blend interessante e originale quella aborigena e quella giapponese.
Taiwan is a multicultural island, beside the dominant Chinese culture, you can mind a mix of interesting cultures like the aboriginal one or the Japanese one.
Non dimentichiamo che il Giappone ha occupato Taiwan per circa mezzo secolo lasciando un'impronta molto forte. Questa volta voglio parlarvi proprio di un piccolo angolo di Giappone a Taipei. Fino a qualche anno fa era aperto a Taipei il famoso ristorante giapponese Genkai. Visitare Genkai era come trovarsi in Giappone: ottimo sushi e clientela per lo più nipponica. Ci andavo spesso con un caro amico di Tokio trapiantato a Taipei per lavoro e devo ammettere che il sushi e il sashimi erano costosi per gli standard di Taipei ma erano davvero freschissimi e ben preparati. Purtroppo però un paio di anni fa Genkai ha chiuso i battenti e da allora ho girato parecchio prima di ritrovare un sushi della stessa qualità.
Let's not forget that Japan has occupied Taiwan for about half a century and has left an important footprint. I would like to evoke this from a small spot in Taipei.
Until some years ago, you could find the famous Japanese restaurant Genkai in Taipei. To eat there was like being in Japan: excellent sushi among a very Japanese clientele. I often used to go there with a dear friend from Tokyo relocated in Taipei for professional reasons and I have to say that the sushi and sashimi were expensive compared to Taipei's standards but they were so fresh and well prepared.
Unfortunately, a couple of years ago, Genkai closed and, since then, I have not been able to find a sushi with the same quality.
Incredibile ma vero un giorno proprio il mio amico giapponese mi scrive consigliandomi un ottimo sushi bar a New Taipei City. L'ho visitato, purtroppo senza di lui che nel frattempo è tornato in patria, e me ne sono innamorato! Si chiama "Bridge Sushi" 橋壽司 e si trova proprio vicino al ponte che attraversa il Keelung river e connette il distretto di Yonghe con il centro. Il locale e' molto piccolo e poco appariscente con una quindicina di coperti incluso quelli del kaiten.
Hard to believe but, one day, my Japanese friend writes to me to advise a very good sushi bar in New Taipei City. I visited it, unfortunately without him as he went back to his home country in the meantime, and I fell in love!
It is called "Bridge Sushi" and is located next to the bridge that crosses the Keelung river and connects Yonghe district with the city center.
This place is very small and not so noticeable, with only about fifteen spots including the kaiten. Per questa ragione molti taiwanesi lo snobbano e preferiscono locali più alla moda ma di qualità scadente. Ma dell'opinione comune ci interessa poco visto che qui il sushi e il sashimi sono di ottimo livello!
For this reason, many Taiwanese do not consider this place and rather go to more fancy places even though with less quality. But who cares about the fashion tendency when it comes to sushi of a superior level!
Il menù offre diversi tipi di sushi e varie altre pietanze ben preparate e ad un prezzo abbastanza accessibile. La scelta non è così ampia, ma ciò che il Bridge Sushi propone è fatto come si deve.
The menu offers different kinds of sushi and miscellaneous other dishes well elaborated at an affordable price. You won't find hundreds of options in the menu but what the Sushi Bridge offers is well done.
Vi consiglio di sedervi al kaiten, il bancone del sushi bar dove sfilano i piatti appena preparati di fronte a voi dal cuoco. In questo modo avrete occasione di assaporare prima con gli occhi e poi col palato i vari tipi di pesce.
Se non siete abituati a mangiare il sushi all'inizio potrà sembravi che tutti i locali siano più o meno uguali e che questo non abbia nulla in particolare, ma non è così.
I suggest you to sit on a kaiten with the sushi bar just in front of you where you can see the dishes just prepared from the cook. This way, you can have an ocular pre-taste before the palate for the various fishes.
If you are not used to eat sushi, you might think that all the locals are more or less similar and that this one has nothing particular but that's not the case.
Dovete provare voi stessi per capire la differenza, vi dirò solo che sta tutto in due elementi: la freschezza del pesce e la mano del cuoco. Al Bridge Sushi li trovate entrambi!
You have to try by yourself to feel the difference, I would only encourage you to focus on two points: freshness of the fish and the hand skills of the cook. At the Bridge Sushi, you can expect both!
In conclusione il Bridge Bushi e' un ottimo locale dove rilassarsi, godersi una cena a base di pesce, leggera ma deliziosa, passando una serata tranquilla con chi più vi piace.
To sum up, the Bridge Sushi is a great place where you can relax, enjoy a light but delicious diner based on fish specialties and therefore spend a great evening with whoever you like.
